Nice poem Bondi... Kinda along the lines of Jim Morrison and William Blake... It seethes with unfullfilled sexual desires... Is this a case of life imitating art?

It actually has nothing to do with sexual desires. It was written at a time when I felt so different from everyone else in the world except for those I love

So controversial editorials didn't attract a wider audience... it was poetry???

Should I post another?

fuck it... you'll get it like it or not....

SHORT OF EXPECTATION
All I値l leave is memories,
Images of ennui.
A one point five out of three
Give it life and let it breathe.

The more I try the more I fail
Eyes bloodshot, my skin is pale,
I need a fix so make the sale.
A pinnacle, a height, a snail.

Turn around and look right back
Will you take a look at that?
Somehow I turned more white to black.
No hints, no tricks, no magic act.

I love the word ennui. saying it just makes you sound like an upper class likeable snob. It's great.

here's where they mention the word in the simpsons...

Frenchman: Come, stranger, join our circle of infamy. Tell us
your story of ennui.
Homer: Well, back on land my name was ... Homer Simpson ...
and I guess it is here, too. I promised my dad one
of my kidneys, but I chickened out on the last
minute and left him on his death bed. [everyone
immediately stops what they were doing, shocked]
Card Guy: Good lord!
Woman: Oh, how could you?
Englishman: I think I'm going to be sick.
Frenchman: I stole this accordion from a blind monkey, but you
... ugh! You disgust even me!

I first came across the word whilst listening to Secret Samadhi album by Live back in high school. I fell in love with it then and there. I wrote that a few years ago. It still is a fav though

I cant believe you remembered it was used in the Simpsons, even i didn't know that! blink.gif

first time I heard the word and actually looked it up was in the movie "simple twist of fate" Great lazy Sunday movie. it's based on a book titled Silas Marner. Great book. It's a book that's just a good, heart-warming story. very enjoyable and quick to read.

I remembered it was in the simpsons cuz that word just sticks out any time I hear it. I obviously had to look it up to remember exactly where it came from.

it's tricky to take something that is poetry and just slap music to it. It can completely change the mood of what you're trying to do, but the right "mood music" can really be completely wrong as a song. Elton John and Bernie Taupin are geniuses

I have a weird belief system on aliens and UFOs. I believe in other life forms living outside of planet Earth but I do not believe in the thousands of UFO sightings, here's why:

Firstly it would be naive to think we are the only intelligent life forms in the universe. There have got to be countless others. The Universe' size is beyond our comprehension so we are undoubtedlt the only ones living in it. I often kick back and wonder where these other civilisations are. Are they more advanced than us, or less? etc

Why I dont believe in UFOs. Hollywood has us all believing that aliens are far superior in their technology and intelligence than us? WHo really knows? People who claim to have seen or been abducted by UFOs always seem to be crackpots from the Midwest of USA. WHy do the aliens visit only the USA and not countries like Australia? China? England? etc. With all our surveillence technology I think it is time that some irrefutable evidence is shown. Otherwise I'll still believe that our planted has just not been visited by other life forms yet

I gotta agree, all that crop circle nonsense, no chance, the fact that somewhere in the universe there are some other beings with at least a small amount of self awareness, almost definitely. We know a tiny fraction of an amount of our galaxy and there are at least thoushands more that we are aware of, its just a superioty complex to think we are alone

Ok, first thing is first... this isn't a personal ad from some shy loser looking for a shag! I have a long term girlfriend so I come here to RMM purely for the breasts and the wacky conversation!

Like I said I am from Sydney's east right on the beach. I am 23 years old. I work for a major alcohol company in Sales and I have been doing that for a few years now.

I am a sporty guy and I love Football, Soccer and Cricket, of which many of you wouldn't have a clue about. I also love to surf, as many Aussies who live by the beach do. I also visit the gym regularly as it isn't great to show up at the beach with a spare tyre around your waist!

I play the guitar and I am starting up a band here but there are no plans for some sort of rock revolution but if it happened it would be way cool! I am very artistic in that I love most things art. I write alot, in different styles, and I just basically dig anything with expression.

I love having a beer with my mates and just basically having a good time and enjoying life!

I have loved making new friends on RMM as I originally thought it was just a good site to see some great tits and thats it. But the guys here... and more importantly the girls, are great people!

If anyone wants to know anymore just reply. I am happy to answer (or more than likely dispell) any rumours/myths you have heard about Australia! No... I dont have a pet Kangaroo!

Well, it may just be semantics, but there are U.F.Os, (Unidentified Flying Objects). But I don't believe aliens are flying them. It's just that they aren't identified. If it were an alien spaceship, it wouldn't be unidentified, it would be an alien spaceship. And the reason we see them and nobody else does, where would anyone visit if they could only land in one place? The US. Probably do a couple of days at Disney, fly over the Grand Canyon, a couple of New York shows, then head home. Mission Accomplished.

I was thinking the same thing about the semantics of the word but settled on the fact that UFO is pretty much synonomous with "alien life".

Damn this must be the best Thread of the site
Hey Bondiguy
Bobaloo
There's just too damn much going on in here so I'll just comment on what I can remember.

1) umm. I don't remember much

2) when the little lady took an astonomy course in college, I would read her text book. Really cool and crazy stuff. I learned a lot from that book. The guy who wrote it was a complete nerd really into the stuff and he's actually the professor who taught her class. One thing I did read in there that caught my attention is that every single star out there has the potential to be a solar system. with that knowledge alone, you'd be nuts to think that there's no other life out there. I mean, with billions upon billions of stars in our galaxy alone, each with the potential to be the center of a solar system consisting of multiple planets, there's some pretty good odds that there's at least one planet out there where conditions are conducive to cradle life. Now throw into the mix that there are possibly billions of galaxies out there, all different types, most of which we cannot even see, all of which will contain there own billions upon billions of stars. I mean, there's got to be AT LEAST one other planet out there that has the necessary factors to harbor life. You'd be ignorant to be unwavering in an opinion based on Earth as the sole life-bearing planet. But seeing as the nearest star aside from our sun is lots and lots of light years away, I don't think it's feasable to believe that we'll be seeing any extra-terrestrial lifeforms anytime soon. another planet far, far away may be more advanced and have figured out away to blow through Einstein's physics, but I wouldn't count on seeing that happen just yet.

so that's that. cartoon aliens like Kazoo and Kang are clear proof that alien lifeforms exist, but I just don't think we're really going to see them in our lifetime... at least not without that DMT drug or whatever the hell you guys were talking about earlier.

Okay. i'm done now. I just made myself even farther behind at work now so now I have to logoff.

Are you really still reading this mumbo jumbo??? Man, you need to get a life. If you read past this point, you are totally a bigger nerd than I am... Ha, You NERD!!!

There's just too damn much going on in here so I'll just comment on what I can remember.

I took an introductory astronomy class in university, and it was by far the toughest entry level class I ever took. I have casually followed astronomy since I was about 5 and thought I knew about the stars. In fact I knew nothing haha. I got a 68 on the midterm, and was disappointed, only to find out that well over half the class failed. What I'm trying to say(besides tooting my own horn) is that astronomy has so many difficult areas to grasp for the uninitiated and is so much more vast than most people realize. If people were more educated on the logistics on what lies overhead in the heavens, most would be hardpressed to believe there isn't life and most likely intelligent life out there. And in recent years, astronomers have discovered tons of planets orbiting stars by observing star wobble(the planets themselves are far too small to see from Earth). Now for that intelligent life to reach Earth, I dunno what to think. Just reaching us from another star would be a techical nightmare(but not impossible, wormholes and other theoretical gateways etc.) but how would they know to look here?

I read it all. The "nerd" is strong with me.
I'm just glad I could drag bondi's thread down a bit. Thanks for helping bob!
