Diane and Bobaloo,

Please rest assured you are not in the group of people that piss me off. Bobaloo you are actually a noobie that has done the right thing. Come and join the fun, dont rock the boat, enjoy the ladies and gradually get to know everyone. If ALL new people here were like you this place would have no problems.

Diane I have not yet made up my mind as I am very ambivalent myself. There are so many reasons I love coming here and so many reasons i get the shits when i get here. I mean of course I am addicted. You dont post 5000 posts for shits and giggles.

All I wanted people to realise is that aloowing fuckwits to control and overtake the forums puts the majority, who are all cool, off posting here. It has happened time and time again. Not sure if she was around when you were here but Sussed is a prime example. Why do you think Kiana left? How long has it been since Puppet or Jrock have been here? These people used to "own" this place and they have had to leave because they had reached the end of what they were prepared to put up with.
*

I am still new myself so I missed whatever used to happen I dunno being that this is the best board I have been on and seen so much worse I suppose it is hard for me to see things to the extent some of you do. Because you always had a good board I mean the stuff that happens here is like nothing comparred to what I have dealt with but I would hate for you all to leave. I liked Puppet thought he left cause he lost his internet and I liked kiana and Jork. Never really got to know Sussed but for my "generation" here I would hate for the ones I like to leave you all are why I keep coming. a handful of the newbies and a handful of the ones here when I got here without those people I doubt I would come

Totally missed this post till diane responded to it. Thanks for the assurance and the kind words. but trust me, you don't want all people around here to be like me. What fun would the world be if everyone was perfect???

But I hear what you're saying. I do remember Sussed and Kiana. There's even others whose names I can't think of right now that I remember being really active and then disappearing. I don't know BTS's story but she's MIA for the most part too.

I'll do what I can to shape the noobs up around here. More beheadings at the White House!

Ok bondi I am putting this here in case you dont check the other thread where I also asked you some questions. Anyway can you put this in american talk for me if you can. I looked up a conversion factor and basically 1 american dollar is 1.38 Aussie money but I dont know your money system and I tried reading this over and over again and I am completely confused. I am seriously considering moving to Aussie land in the future but trying to figure out what my pay range would be around and if it would be enough to support my family there. At the least I would be a Registered Nurse before moving there and I have already looked into the legalities of it all just a matter of seeing if I can live now.

Thanks for real for your help and dont worry I wouldnt stalk you, I just been thinking a lot lately of going somehwere in the future since my job will allow me to and was considering Mexico but Aus. seems so much cleaner and safer than even the tourist spots of Mexico.

Remuneration value up to A$66 544 p.a., comprising salary between A$54 443 - A$58 323 p.a. (f/t) or salary rates: A$27.45 - A$29.41 p.h. (p/t), employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (NO2 – Clinical Nurse) (full time or part time position available, minimum 64 hrs p.f.) VRN: TD010-06.

Salary between A$39 778 - A$53 525 p.a. (f/t) or salary rates: A$20.06 - A$26.99 p.h. (p/t) (NO1 – Registered Nurse) (two positions available: one permanent full time or part time, minimum 64 hrs p.f. and one temporary part time until 24 April 2006, 64 hrs p.f.) VRN: TD009-06.

I think the pay would be a hell of a lot better than Mexico. To do the Mexico thing, you would want to save your money here for a LONG time, then move down there. But man, that medical system is probably not too great, either. I have some people I can ask.

By the way, the conversion rate means that the dollars you earn in Australia will look inflated compared to the U.S. If my math is correct, you would have to subtract about 30% from a published Australian salary to get the American equivalent. But that means nothing if you also don't have the typical cost-of-living information for Australian metropolitan areas.

From what I've read if you want to make decent money as a nurse over the long run, you need to have some kind of specialization. The U.S. has been importing nurses from places like Africa to deplete a burned-out and underpaid workforce in general nursing areas....

Well yeah the mexico thing was a lot longer way off more like actual retirment somewhere like Puerto Vallarte but its not safe there in the aspect of things the politics are shady the cops are shady and not very clean even in tourist spots allthough nice landscape there.

You are talking about nursing pay here not being as much right not in Australia, here I know that is why my long term goal is nurse practioner but I was looking into australia higher education routes and most the hospitals there i looked into not only pay you while you get higher education but help with it. Here you might get some help with the cost of school but nothing more and there they save x amound of spots for out of country Nurses. I just need to figure out Would the pay there cover cost of living comfortably pretty much. or would it be like trying to live in the US off a McDonalds Income.

Want to live comfortably and still might have kids with me hoping can drag everyone there:P

It's a really good question - how good is Australian pay for this profession relative to the cost of living. My guess is that at least as well as the United States. If Australia is willing to provide the additional pay/training incentives you mention, it is because they have a more acute need than the U.S.

Remember also, that certain professions that are vital, but historically not highly paid, also are eligible for things like housing subsidization, etc. A prominent example would be a police officer or teacher. Even here that type of thing varies by locale. My guess is it would in Australia also.

I'm curious for Bondi to address what the situation might be like outside Australian metropolis areas. From what I hear, they are the boonies, big time.

Ok damn that was a lot of reading to get through.

Cost of living in Sydney is fairly high but if you are earning A$65k you are on a good start. Will it be single income or dual? Single will be alot harder with housing prices etc. 12.5% Supperannuation is above the award rate of 9%. Leave loading of 17.5% is standard and you will basically recieve 17.5% of your monthly wage as a bonus every year. Some employers give it in a lump sum and some work it into your pay.

Country or rural areas will see you earn a whole lot more and the cost of living will be a whole lot less.

In regards to the exhange rate I am not sure what you want to know but we basically use the same money system as you guys. Dollars and Cents, it's just that ours aren't as valuable as the American Dollar. Having said that it is all in proportion and the only time you will see the difference is if you want to travel to the States.

here here!

On a side note, is $65K a normal wage for Australia? Cuz if so, I think I'm moving lol!
Just for comparison sake, where is your dollar sitting now in relation to US? Ours was pretty low for the past 20 years or so but now is around .90 cents US. How is the Aus dollar doing in comparison as if I remember correctly it is usually pretty much in line with ours.

I could not tell you positively the average wage but I believe it is closer to 50k than 65k. 65k is a pretty good salary, more than I am one! tongue.gif

The Aussie dollar is either in line or just behind the American dollar. Today it was 1 canadian dollar buys 1.19 Aussie dollars!

To the rest of you, sorry to scare you but I am fine! The cyclone that hit Australia hit in the far north of the country and I am just a little south of the unofficial middle of the country on the east coast. The storm was a category 5 and was pretty horrific, not sure the death toll is high but damage is BIG. It was likened to Hurricane Katrina but the big difference is the cities it hit were smaller and built ABOVE sea level meaning flooding is minimal to non existent!

Dear All,

The time has come for me to once again say an extended goodbye to you all. I have been toying with the idea for sometime now as some of you may be aware but I am now biteing the bullet so to speak.

The Reason: I just dont have the time anymore. I have found that this is eating into the time I have set aside for other things and I just can't allow that to happen anymore. I used to be able to pop in for 15 minutes but it is no longer the case. Between work and other commitments I have, least of all getting married within 12 months my time is of the essence and unfortunately something had to give.

I mean no disrespect to the new people here and others I have come to know and like but this place just isn't what it used to be... and that is sad.

For those of you who have come to know me well enough over time this is by no means goodbye as you will know the avenues in which i can be contacted. PM me if you must

For the rest I will pop into my 411 from time to time to say but do to many factors that will be about the extent of my involvement here. I will be able to come online once or maybe twice more this week before my own personal deadline expires and then I'll be gone.

I have really enjoyed most of my time here and got to meet some wonderful people. Not only wonderfully sexy females but great people both men and women.

Someone is going to have to really pick up the slack with posting on the boards.... it's not an easy job being a board whore!

Keep on rockin...
