What's funnier still is that while porn is such a huge money-making industry, look at how many people know how to get it for free. This world is run primarily by sex, which all makes sense to me.
More interesting than the amount of money that porn brings in is its power to dictate other industries as well. allow me to expound:
BETA video is far superior in image quality than VHS. And the tapes are much smaller. however, which one won dominated the market across the land??? VHS of course. You know why??? Porn. That's right, boys and girls. Porn. supposedly the BETA people did not want the image associated with supplying porn on their medium, so they refused. VHS picked up the ball and drove the market into a VHS-dominated frenzy.
Move forward to when people got sick and tired of VHS's grainy quality and the DVD was released. DVD had a very big struggle at the beginning, tougher than the laser disc (if you remember that failure). However, DVD's introduction of the porn industry helped the DVD boom into the new standard. Imagine, porn with high quality video... and who the fuck else do you think actually makes use out of that stupid "angle" button on your remote??? That's right, the porn makers. Three or more different angles of some stupid pizza delivery guy with a donger the size of a baseball bat fucking the shit out of some big-tittied bitch with nothing better to do than place a bogus pizza order when her husband is at work fucking his secretary (that's the interlaced scene). 90 minutes of action, 3 angles for viewing, 5 minutes a pop... that's 54 sessions of fresh material per DVD. Technology kicks ass!!!
Can't wait to see what BluRay porn looks like.
The above post is a compilation of shit i've read on the Internet over the years... meaning: it must be true!
That is a great theory and I completely believe it! Those stupid stupid Beta people.
I remember when I got my first DVD player in early 2000 I think, one of the first things I rented was porn and while watching I was like, "oh so THAT'S what the multi angle button is for." no other dvd i had watched to that point had ever used it.
Another thing I was thinking when reading the 12billion dollar stat was that the US is probably the most anti-porn country of the western world, yet I think they produce more of it than anybody (no complaints from me cuz I enjoy a lot of it!). On top of that they make 12 BILLION dollars a year off it. Now I am Canadian and all but I spend about zero dollars on porn a year and I watch lots of it via TV and internet. Yes I am a cheap bastard and fairly crafty at not paying for stuff but that means that even though a lot of people ARE paying for it, probably a lot more are getting it for free. So it means a small percentage of people are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars a year on porn(I'm sure Pay and 3d do but those are isolated cases

) or that there are a shitload of closet porn addicts accross the country. It's just funny how the establishment tries to tell us porn is bad and tries to get rid of it when it seems to me that damn near everyone is looking at it. I always wondered how so many porn websites can stay in business. Now I know!
