I respect all opinions ,and will never knock somebody else for there opinion . I happen to grow up in the country and in a lifestyle that on your key B day you got a gun , I went to every safety course I had to as a teen . Now as a adult I am just use to a gun , Im use to carrying a gun , i dont fear the gun and i dont fear what I might have to someday use it . I have pulled my gun one time in my life and that was when a guy was threatening bodily harm to my folks over a stupid situation and the guy had been drinking . I didnt have to shoot but the sight of the gun alone caused the guy to back off , piss down his leg and realize he had picked the wrong old people to pick on . I have been in several situation were i could have pulled but chose not to. But the piece of mind of having it with me makes me feel more secure . The key words i use :Dont ever take a knife to a gun fight .

Most of the shootings that take place today are done by duranged people and i agree they should not be able to get or own a gun . Guns should be owned by responsible people

I think the main thing I am realizing is how different the southern states are from the northern states/Canada in these regards. Its interesting, as I've discuss it with people up here and generally they have the same view as me.

I'm kind of intrigued and am thinking I want to take a trip down the the South to experience this culture! tongue.gif Any cities/states people recommend?

Id be more than happy to show you around Colorado should you get out this way darlin wink.gif..................and as for guns....i grew up in CO and i call it home but have traveled all over the US with work. I find that the attitudes towards guns changes dramaticly depending on where your at. I personaly do not have a conceal carry permit, that being said there is generally been a weapon within reach virtually anytime i needed one, which has been more than once unfortunatly. Luckly ive never had to discharge one to get my point across, all thou i do believe if you point a gun at someone you better be willing to kill them, theres no point pointing a gun at someone to scare them...ok rant done tongue.gif

I find the sound of a cocking .357 does the trick quit well, but not near as good as the slide on a 12 GA wink.gif

My choice is 9MM , Ammo is cheaper however I own 4 357's and 2 45'S I also just bought a 2 380's at auction that make nice carry pieces . But for the home invader I break out the Pistol grip riot 12GA loaded with rubber pellet Riot bullets . tongue.gif

I spent 10 days in Toronto on Business a couple years ago and learned Quickly that you really dont need to carry there cause the people are friendly accpet and this a BIG ACCEPT :the homeless men that live around the streets , We were comign back from a meeting my wife and I and they wouldnt stop touching my wife Luckily before I attempted to lay them out the door man from our hotel had been keeping a eye on the situation and he had hotel security come over and escort us back to the hotel , the issue is IF i had hit one of them i would have been arrested , and he would have got a free meal . back home here I would have tazered him . but I must say it only happened 1 time , the rest of our stay was fabulous and we walked all over town without fear . tongue.gif

It must have been weird not being able to carry around your gun! But if you had, and took it out you would have surely been arrested.

As for the homeless guy, yes they can be a nuisance. They are especially bad in Winnipeg (my home). I went to school downtown so had to deal with it every day. As a whole, they are harmless. Generally VERY friendly, and still praise you if you have no money. In my experiences the best thing to do it attempt to ignore them and just keep walking. I have a friend that moved up here from San Diego, and she was absolutely terrified up homeless people. She would walk on the other side of the street to avoid them. I found it kind of silly, but to each their own!

As for the touching thing, I have never seen that before! Thats horrible. Good thing security helped you guys. Let me assure you, that is very rare in the great white north!

On a second rant. Let me tell you, there is one thing that bugs the crap out of me down here. Its really nit-picky, and you will probably all find it ridiculous but its the situations when you bump into someone etc. I find people say "excuse me" here and that it is extremely rude! The difference is that I say "sorry" when this happens. Just curious what you all say. I discussed this with some people here and they said that yes it can be rude, but its all in the tone. I guess I just find all excuse me's rude. tongue.gif Thoughts?

with the touching issue its not that 3d would have pulled a gun for that(good way to go to jail and loose your license) its just the peace of mind of being able to deffend your self or others had the guy tried something more than just touching..
the issue of "excuse me" will depend greatly on the persons attitude when its said...if i bump into someone i say im sorry...i say excuse me if i have to pass by someone closely...i say it before i attempt to go by them and if i touch them accidently i still apologize for it...just my way of doing it...

There was a moment in my former career where too much of a good thing was TOO MUCH. One summer, like this one, there was a heat spell of 100+ degree weather. My job was to sit inside a computer room that was constantly air-conditioned to precisely 62 degrees F. Now you may think, "bah, 62 F, that's not bad." It is when air-conditioned air is constantly blowing around from the vents out of the floor, above and wherever ducting was placed. Constantly blowing. I'd take jackets to work, then to take a break, walk down a ramp, past two security doors down a small hall and out into the outdoor cafeteria patio. With my jacket on.
coco.gif <--- yeah. People thought the same thing. They didn't know where I was working.

Illustration purposes only, that's definitely not me tongue.gif
