Bondi rant #118

So in Sydney this past Sunday the mercury hit 40 degrees celcius,a nd to do the conversion, it was fucking hot!

So Bondi Beach was packed to the rafters, you could barely spot the sand. The lifesavers were off their feet, I mean really, really busy. Why you ask? Because they were busy saving tourists (I must say mostly from Europe and Asia) from the surf because they couldn't swim?

What on earth makes a person enter the water, no less the surf when they can not swim? Do they think they'll pick it up as they go along? I don't jump out of planes because I can not fly and these people should adhere to the same rule!

Lastly, what angers me even more. Not 5 mins after they have had their life saved by people rsiking their own, they are back in the water!!!

I think the city should send them the bill. It's not like lifeguards work for free. I agree, you'd have to be pretty ignorant to wade into the ocean if you can't swim. We'd get guys in Boot Camp who couldn't swim. Since the service they were joining was called the Marines, how could they possibly think the training wouldn't include going into the water. That's about as dumb as joining 3d's Boy Scout troop without a tube of KY and a loose sphincter. It's just shortsighted.

All day long we've been told Portland was going to get "a light dusting" of snow. Just driving home an hour ago and there's already about 6"-8" inches and it's still coming down hard. I'd love a job where I could be that inaccurate. "Oh, sorry lady, you DIDN'T want your barbecue grill in the bathroom? My mistake. " I'd be out of the moving business in a week with that kind of service.

Well people are, in general, stupid. When I went to Hawaii, I went out a little farther cuz it was very shallow and not much surf near the beach, but when I went to Mexico it got deep fast and I didn't go deeper than about waist height. I can swim not bad, but I'm not used to the ocean and I pretty much sink like a rock at the best of times.

Anne Frank wasn't deaf or dumb. Maybe I've been reading you two clowns too much but she was a Holocaust victim who wrote a diary that became renowned for it's intimate portrayal of a young woman going thru the horrors of Nazi extermination. I figure most of you already know this but it's a very important book that should be read by everyone.

They are Lebanese born, Muslim Australians. They seem to hate mainstream Australia so much because they listen to the preachings of extremist muslims calling for jihad in light of the world's current plight!
