It definitely was a nailbiter for sure, but both QBs were not on their 'A' games.  The defense for each team kicked major butt all game and forced the QBs to move out of the comfort zone that has been set up for the past 8 weeks.  It was a preview of the post season for sure.   food-smiley-004.gif

Like I said the winner of this game would be decided by the defense.

On another note. The Pats are accussing the Colts of cheating. coz.gif Now that is a pot calling the kettle black! coco.gif

some of the best play Ive seen in a number of yrs , and I think your right . 2thumbs.gif

The Patriots are looking unstoppable. How about Belicheck going for it on 4th and two when they are already ahead by 45 points? It's what makes the game worth watching after they get so far ahead. I was hoping to see Doug Flutie come in from the sidelines and drop-kick another 2 pointer. tongue.gif Or at least go for a two point conversion after the last touchdown. If you're gonna stick the knife in, you might as well twist it while you're at it.

I think Belichick is just pissed about the whole Spygate thing and wants to drive the point home that the Pats didn't need the tapes to win.  It definitely keeps the game interesting thought.  It's almost that you know they are going to win, it's just by how much.  Pats-Eagles, 30 point spread anyone??
*

How I wish I would have taken you up on those points... Will the Pats fall?? I sure as hell hope so....
closeup
I heard John Madden say the other day that the Pats offense was the best he'd EVER seen and probably the best ever in the NFL. That's from someone who really knows his football. To all the teams who get pissed that the Pats are running up the score there's one obvious solution-stop them from scoring. If you don't want to lose by 30-40 points, try harder to stop them. If you can't stop them, then take your ass-whippin'( smilio12.gif ) like a man and quit whining about the score. The ONLY reason to put the offense on the field is to score points-that's why they're playing in the first place.

Okay Closeup you are going to take the word of John Madden, the man whose vocabulary consist of about 12 words. Shit he's so old he can’t remember if he wiped his ass that day much less the best offense he has ever seen...

The Pats had a scare the other day by the Eagles of all teams. They are going to be like the Colts a few years back went undefeated until the playoffs and lost.

But you've got to admit losing sucks right? Or do you just get used to it after it happens so often? We've got the Celtics, who are doing great, the Red Sox, who just won the World Series and the Patriots, who are still undeated. The veiw from the top is great. It's sort of like being the lead dog on a sled team; Only the dog in the lead has a great view, all the others' see is the asshole in front of them. grinning-smiley-003.gif

I'm not really a fan of the pats or Brady himself but there is no way that team could win under Matt Cassel, I remember him coming in one game, threw a pic first thing and got yanked. Maybe thats why they don't pull Brady, the backup sucks so bad that no lead is safe, lol.

The ravens had them, that damn timeout call from their own sideline wrecked them, few pretty lame calls against them and even still they were 2 yards away from completing a hail mary from 50+ yards.

I know the Steelers can beat the Pats, it's just a question of if they still bring everything after seeing two lesser teams come so close. Pitsburgh seems to like to slack off a bit in games but I'm hoping that doesn't happen.

Even if New England does win against the Steelers I'm thinking they have a rough road because every team they play is using this as their own Superbowl, even a team like Miami with no wins and that couldn't get up to play the Jets will probably step up their game to try to ruin the Pats perfect season

I was talkin to my buddy today and while it sounds really foolish I wouldn't be surprised by the dolphins beating new england. They got nothing to lose and that is the ONLY game that anyone will care about for them this season. With guys like Jason Taylor on the defense I think they may show up for that game. Plus I just think it'd be funny as hell to see the pats go down to a winless team.

That all said maybe I'm just hoping upon hope someone beats the damn arrogance out of New England
closeup
The Pats are going 19-0. They're gonna win the Super Bowl. You guys are just going to have to get used to the idea. It's probably best to start now so you'll be ready when the season ends. To those who think the Dolphins actually have a chance, you should buy a Powerball ticket. You're more apt to win that. I'll bet the Dolphins are conceeding the next two games so they can prepare for the Pats. What do the care if they're 0-14? I'll bet there has never been a time when a 14-0 team play an 0-14 team. What lost the game for Baltimore was Baltimore's stupidity-calling a time out so the Pats get to replay the down. That's not bad luck, that's just plain foolish.

I didn't say they were conceding the last two games, I said the dolphins clearly weren't showing up the last while and I wouldn't be surprised if they managed to show up for the Pats game. If they're so damn great how come AJ Feely and Kyle Boller threw for some much against them? Last time I checked Baltimore had zero offense, the Pats are not invincible.

Which is exactly what I was saying, for them and the Jets the games against the Pats are their superbowls. The Giants on the last game may be still in the playoff hunt or battling for positioning whereas the Pats won't have anything but the perfect season (maybe) to play for. I wonder if billichick would play his starters for the perfect season and rick an injury to Brady or Moss that could cost them a championship

I know this may be a shock to some but I see Dallas and Pittsburg in the Superbowl...Pittsburg may not win the first one but they will be the pats in the playoffs...

He'll play them. You very rarely see him rest his starters, the team has too much depth and talent to make injuries a primary concern. Look what happened to Indy two years ago-they had everything wrapped up with still 3 weeks to go. They rested the starters during those games, bypassed the week of the wildcards, and came back and played like shit after not having anything to play for for a month. Besides, Brady is only 8 TD passes from breaking Mannings' record. He can't throw them from the bench.

So you're saying that if they win the next 3 games and Brady already breaks the TD record that he'll play against the Giants on the last game and risk injury at the one position that the pats have none of the depth you mentioned?
closeup
He played when they were ahead by 30-35 points in the fourth quarter. He doesn't want to sit on the bench. These guys bust there asses all week for that three hour game on the weekend. Even though it's a job, they love to play. If they have a huge lead in the fourth quarter, he'll probably sit down at the end. But, you can bet all the other teams are studying how the Patriots are so good at winning. It's by having a role on the team for EVERYBOBY, not just the starters. When Maroney was asked what he thought about only carrying the ball once in the first half against Philly, all he had to say was, "We won". These guys believe in their couching staff. If you're a disgruntled whiner as a player, you're gone. The team knows what they want when they draft-players who are willing to do anything to win. Perfect example-Troy Brown. He's one of the most versatile players in NFL history. (He's always been my favorite player) You can say the Patriots are "lucky" or "arrogant" or whatever. But what they are is talented and well couched.
ddd35
you didnt answer all the question mate , who is there to 100 % replace Brady if he goes down ? I dont think theres much depth in that very important position ...

Im not sure they will will go 19 - 0 without a little help , from the men in stripes , there at a point were they can let down and still coast and "if " that happens somebody will knock em off ..But we shall see ..

Pittsburgh is the latest team to get ground-up in the Patriots machine. Now it's time to coast to the play-offs. The furthest they'll have to travel until the Super Bowl is 200 miles to Giants Stadium. So they'll be well rested and ready to go. So much for a "guaranteed" win. Smith now looks like the idiot he is especially when Randy Moss smoked him on a 57 yard pass. Smith was about 40 yards behind him. Anyone think they'll hear any more "guarantees"? Check the date on this post:

The only chance the Dolphins have is if they send up their cheerleaders instead of the team. It would make it a tougher game for the Pats. We're facing the Jets tommorrow. This is the team that cost the Pats $750,000 and a first round draft choice. The Patriots are going to steamroll over them for the full 60 minutes. They want to score at least 48 points to make it an even 100 for the season.

Actually, this weeks game IS interesting. The Maimi Dolphins are coming to town. The 1972 Dolphins are the only team ever to go undefeated for a season. All the players from that team set aside bottles of champange to only be opened when the last undefeated team loses. So far, they haven't been able to pop the cork because of the Patriots 14-0 record. Even thou the Dolphins are 1-13, they are the last team that has beat the Pats in a regular season game.
My ego is not inflated by watching the Pats win, I'd be watching them if they were 0-14. But thanks for your concern. jerkit.gif

I realize I made the first low blow, but I didn't see the relevancy of bringing up how horrible the football team in my state is doing (besides this is a "football" thread, etc.. ok so maybe, I'm off here).

Anyways.. we haven't had the nicest exchange of posts recently and I was just hoping to at least be on neutral terms from here on...

It must be nice to watch a winning team!

Go Rams? >_>

I hate the Patriots, but I have to agree that they're an excellent team. I just hope they lose again to the Colts in the playoffs.

I feel the same, football is something to be enjoyed, not something to be argued over. For me, the Patriots are three hours out of my week to just concentrate on having a good time.
