I love that byte too, jrock. Cracks me up, every time.
Speaking of, it's time to separate the men from the boys. On Saturday, we got the Redskins at the Buccanners and Jacksonville (which ran up a quiet 12-4 record) visits a rejuvenated New England. Sunday's games feature Carolina at the New York football Giants and the future SuperBowl XL champion Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincy.

well, for the nfl, my bears earned themselves a bye week... hopefully they won't go out and rent themselves a boat cruise (but considering the weather in january in chicago, i don't think that'll be a problem)

Sure she's hot. But her personality is annoying. And it's not that she knows everyone wants a piece of her, but she carrys on as such which is a big turn off. Also see Mariah Carey.
Anywho, I've got the 'Skins to scalp the Bucs, the Jaguars to rip apart the Pats, the Giants to stomp on the Panthers and the Steelers to go into Cincy and tame the Bengals.
And you all have one last chance to jump on the Steelers bandwagon before the playoffs start. After that it's too late and may Allah have mercy on your souls, er, teams.

This only because it was requested and after not beeing able to watch the triple overtime thriller last night.
USC - 37
Texas - 24
Yes the horns get hooked by 3 Heisman winners, (yes an extra prediction for those that didn't notice). The 24 points by Texas only because they have one decent collegiate (never going to make much in the NFL) quarterback.

Do you think if the Pats face Steelers like they did a couple of years ago in the play-offs, the Bus will get more than 8 yards? All week long before that game, it was the Bus this, the Bus that, but when they got on the field, the wheels came off the Bus.I don't think we'll be seeing you after this weekend, Cincinattis' not going to lose. Tampa is going to send the Skins home with their tail between their legs.

While he did show flashes of the past this season, I'm not even a big fan of the bus myself. Truth be told, he should have been parked a few years ago as there have been quite a few of incidents like the one you cited. But he's still the man in short-yardage situations.
Anywho, the Begals have stumbled recently, losing to lowly Buffalo and Getting blown out by KC in their last two games. Not exactly the way you wanna go into the playoffs. Meanwhile, The entire AFC was hoping Pittsburgh lost on Sunday as nobody wants to play the heavily playoff-experienced Steelers in the post season.
And Portis has been on a tear of late. He'll run all over Tampa Bay and do the same to Seattle next weekend.

I'm not so sure. I mean the Heisman is based on the entire season, not just one game. Take out this game for Young, and the Fresno State game for Bush, and Reggie is still the man.

I'd say the same thing about the NFL, wait until the Super Bowl is over than vote for MVP and Coach of the Year. I guess it just gives guys like Manning and Marino something to hope for instead of a Super Bowl ring. Winning three play-off games in a row is a lot harder than a 14-2 regular season record in a weak division, especially when you've played 19 games the year before. With all the play-off games the Pats have played the last four years it's equal to playing almost another whole season in that amount of time. In conclusion: Tom Brady is the man! Go Patriots. Jacksonville is going to wish they've never heard of New England when we get thru with them Saturday eve.

There is no way were losing on Saturday. I wouldn't be as confident if it were Indy, Pittsburg, Denver or Seattle, but Jacksonville isn't even going to be a close game. We've got just about everyone healthy and Brady isn't going to lose his first ever play-off game to these guys. Leftowich is not going to be very mobile and the Pats defense is going to be blitzing his sorry ass every other play.
belicked6924
Jan 5 2006, 08:36 PM
Wow, where to start? Ok I was wrong about Texas, their defense showed up for the biggest play of the game (4th and 2). Congratulations to them. And yes Jrock it hurts having to live with being wrong on occasion.
Voting on the Heisman? Still should be done when it is, but I don't think it should be presented until after the Bowl games are done. And yes I still think Reggie would have won it, 9 times outta 10 1 game doesn't decide it. Speaking of awards, Congratulations to Shawn Alexander, the best "unknown" running back in the league even though his personal stats are more important than what's best for his team.
After having lived in Pittsburgh (still a fan of the 'Boys) you gotta respect the Steelers in the playoffs at least until the AFC championship game. So my predictions for this week-end (poor track record here anyway) The Steelers (because it's at Cincy), the Patriots (until somebody beats Brady in the playoffs), the Giants (who can argue with BTS), and the 'Skins (this one's hard for me but they are the hottest team entering the playoffs).

Just curious how you can call the AFC south a week division? The top 2 teams in the AFC (during the regular season) in the same divison and it's weak? If the Jaguars were in any other division, except for the NFC west they would have been division winners. The reason that MVP's are decided before the playoffs is because it should go to the best player, not the best player on a championship team.

I was refering to last year when Manning was co-Mvp, but I can see how what I wrote was confusing. And I think the best player is the player that can bring home the championship. How hard do you think it is to be 9-0 in play-off games?

True and believe me, I take nothing away from Tiki (he helped me win my fantasy league this year). But when you factor in all of the injuries and adversity that Tom Brady and his team faced yet he somehow managed to string wins together...you gotta give it to him. It was as if he willed his team to victory and as odd as it sounds (what with the three superbowl seasons behind him), it wasn't until this season that I was sold on him.

I'm not arguing about Brady deserving the Super Bowl MVP's that he's received, he has deserved every one of them and even very arguably this year's MVP. I also never made a poor reference to Brady's remarkable 9-0 start in the playoffs. I even pick the Pats to beat Jacksonville this week (if you read the previous until somebody beats Brady in the playoffs). I just don't believe that the playoffs should have nothing to do with a regular season MVP. I believe that the MVP could even come from a team that misses the playoffs because it is an individual honor not necessarily a team honor. I know this is a different sport, but think a few years back when baseball honored a player on a last place team with the NL MVP. (1987 Andre Dawson of the Cubs).

Detroit here we come. The Patriots spanked Jacksonville 28-3. All kinds of post-season records set. Brady 10 consecutive play-off wins, Willie McGuiness, 4.5 sacks, etc. If the Patriots win another Super Bowl, I think Hott should have to take a picture like the one above, only with a Pats hat. That would make a nice souvenir. I didn't like seeing the Bucs lose (with the help of the refs), but if it brings out the cheerleader in Hott, that's not a bad consolation.

I can see why, after we've used up a player or coach, we ship them off to Dallas ( Parcells, Bledsoe, Glenn, etc) or the Jets ( half the team). You'd think Dallas would be used to losing after doing it so often, but it always seems to come as a surprise to the fans. The Cowboys used to be known as "America's Team" but they had to change it to "Maybe Next Year". The play-offs are for the big boys, everyone else can go home.
