This week's word isn't really Aussie but it's a phrase that has come in to vogue here in Sydney and as far as I am aware you guy's dont know it.

"Muffin Top"

When a larger woman wears low cut jeans or other pants that are too tight and her fat rolls hang over the side of the jeans/pants. Just like a muffin top hangs over the muffin stub. Can you picture it?

i.e "look at that chick's muffin top"
*

actually have heard that before and unfortunately it seemed to be quite the trend round here for some reason. Luckily it seems girls have realized it wasn't all that flattering for them. :(

I've never heard that term for it. That's a serious wardrobe malfunction...but it is not just a female problem... The male parallel problem is plumbers butt. The guys beer belly holds his waist line so low that his ass crack shows. There is a catalogue company ( http://www.duluthtrading.com/ ) in the US that sells work clothing including extra long tailed T-shirts to cover the exposed ass crack.

Fair Dinkum basically means "really?"

i.e "Did you hear steve's wife slept with another bloke?"

"fuck... Fair Dinkum?"

From Bondi's description, "muffin top" is the extreme form of "love handles." And he is absolutely correct about living with an absence of mirrors (and the least bit of personal vanity to know what mirrors are for. :(

I am as vain as they come!

Muffin Top is not necessarily the "extreme" love handles, more just they way how men or womens fat resemble's a muffin top when it over hangs jeans/pants that are too tight or too low riding

Word: Mate

Now I know this is not a uniquely Australian word but we Aussies use it in a very unique way. Basically "mate" means friend, companion etc but basically everyone in Australia is a "mate" whether they be your best friend or some guy you just abused in a bout of raod rage.

e.g 1: Hello mate, how are you today?
e.g 2: Where the fuck did you get your licence from mate? You're a fucking retard!

I just love how we use this word

haha, you've only missed 25 weeks.

anyway, we hardly ever use the word "mate" in Canada in that sense althugh I here British people use it all the time to. We don't really have one term to encompass all those situations like you do with mate. We use various terms like dude, man, brother, guy, douchebag.

25 weeks? Well thats the Australian way!

We use "dude" and "man" a little but that has been brought in by American culture. Brother is used sparingly mostly by Aussie's of pacific Island/New Zealand background. You will never hear an Aussie bloke say Guy or Douchebag... you can get punched for that shit here

Damn, and I was thinking they spoke english there :P

I have a Canadian slang for ya. Actually if you ever meet another "mate"from Saskatchewan and they are wearing a hooded sweatshirt, compliment them on there bunny hug. The rest of the universe calls it a hoodie or hooded sweatshirt but for some reason people from Saskatchewan call it a bunny hug, no idea why.

Yeah, my buddy who is from Canada, moved to Poland to teach English 5 years ago. Anyway, he and his Polish girlfriend just moved to England and he says there seem to be just as many Polish people there as there were in Poland.
