I was watching "The Sentinal" over the weekend. If you've seen it, you know it's about the Secret Service protecting the President. Anyway, in one of the extras, they interveiw real Secret Service agents who have to guard President Bush. He was saying the guards were harder to find because Bush runs 7 minute miles and sometimes the older agents couldn't keep up. 7 minutes is a nice clip, I don't think I could do it now. My body has changed from carrying heavy furniture up and down the stairs for all these years. I'm probably closer to 8 minute miles now.

that's not bad considering the bulk of the population probably can't even run a mile.
other than this race though I've stopped running anything more than 5k(3miles) in favour of more sprint/ interval work but once in awhile I like to go out and just run, clears the mind.

I'm not sure if I ever mentioned this, but there was a time I was hired to guard Mel Gibson. He saw I was running everyday and asked to show him the trails. This was in Arcadia National Park, outside Bar Harbor. The guy smokes like a chimney, I could never do more than trot, and pretty much got bored after a couple miles. When we returned to the cottage where he was staying, I turned around and did my five miles. I couldn't even subtract off the two or three miles we ran because it was so slow.

I thought the same thing. Whenever I see him running on screen, I figure it must be a stunt double or special effects or something. This was during the premiere of "A Man Without a Face". He certainly looked like he was in better shape than he actually was.

As disgraceful as his behavior was, can you believe his father is even worse? The apple evidently didn't fall to far from the tree in their case. 750 million dollars isn't going to change him. It's too bad, I enjoyed his company, but he's just too much of a racist to have any lasting respect for.

ya, I should have known this from the start. I went and dropped off some maps and pictures of the course I had made up to my buddy and his girlfriend and to see how they were doing. They didn't know where they would be running, when the race started, or really anything even though I had emailed the course narrative earlier and told everyone to kinda look it over. So it's a good thing I paid them a visit. They were both kinda shitting bricks about this whole thing cuz they really haven't prepared very much. So I kinda reassured them that they could do it. The guy was kinda OK with his 9km but his woman was all nervous about running 5km. If you're in any kind of shape you can run 5km, it's not like there is a time limit. I said she could take short walk breaks if she needed so I think she is feeling better about it.But I guess we'll see how things go on Sunday. Maybe next year I'll hold tryouts instead haha.

I know how you feel Gnappy. I had a hard time spearheading a mud-volleyball team. I can't even get people in on a bowling tournament taht has free pizza and beer for 4 hours and it only costs $30 to enter a couple and there's lots of free prizes and shit.

I'd run with your team, but i think after running to Canada in the morning, I'd be a little tuckered out to actually run in the marathon. sorry.

do u need a volunteer to run behind you with the camera? maybe I could rub some cool towels on your hindend, you know, just to keep you comfortable?

so.....how much of the package gets to hang out in the breeze while u run?

There is a cure for that, you know. try removing the crayon from your brain.

Of course, you then will not be able to appreciate the finer things like certain games involving pots on your head.

I was reading (and laughing) at bob's story about Ed and his backdoor problems and it reminded me of a funny thing I did at a former job of mine.
Years ago I used to work in the kitchen of a restaurant/bar. It was a crazy busy place to work and paid like shit, but it was the funniest place to work as well with some pretty hot waitresses, sorta like a real life RMM (lots of Simpsons references as well haha).
Anyway, we had this new kid working there, and we'd usually give new employees a hard time for a bit. Well this guy was especially simple, although he tried playing the gangsta role even though he was whiter than Brooke Shields. So he was doing deliveries one day and his stupidity just got to me. So I call him over and ask him if he will go to the bar and ask the bartender for a "cup of fellatio". I had tried this before but no one ever fell for it. But this kid took it, hook line and sinker and off he went. We served some Italian food so he figured it was something to do with that.
The bartender and I are pretty good friends so I knew it would be cool. Anyway this guy goes up and the bartender in a loud voice, in front of everyone,
Guy:"Could I get a cup of fellatio please?"
Bartender "yeah haha, now get out of here".
Guy: "C'mon man, I'm not supposed to come back without the fellatio.
By this time, the regulars sitting at the bar are laughing.
This goes back and forth, the bartender thinking that this guy is just being a goof and asking for head, and the dumb guy totally oblivious to it all.
Finally the bartender gets really pissed off and tells the guy, "Get the fuck out of here, I'm busy"
The dumb guy comes back to the kitchen and tells me, "They won't give me any fellatio"
I went back and explained it to the bartender who then thought it was pretty funny.

That is great!!! nothing like playing jokes on the oblivious. They deserve it, really. So did he ever get his head? Bartenders sure don't take care of the customer like they used to.
