I try to go to Hawaii at least once a year....your photos from the Big Island bring me there. I also see lots of possibilities for "on location" photos of you. smile.gif

I love Hawaii. I could handle living there year round.
I would of course need to supplement my income being a private invesitgator who always wears a Tigers cap and has a friend named TC who flies a Chopper.

Now that was funny!

I've never been to Hawaii. I've planned to plan on going, but it always falls through. It might finally happen next year around spring break time. smile.gif

those were pics from my hometown on the big island, hawaii. i now live in oahu, hawaii (dif. island). it's more of a city but still beautiful smile.gif
i didn't take this pic. but it's of honolulu and magic island
Attached Image

if you're planning on taking a vacation in hawaii, I'd suggest going to an outer island (ie:not oahu) just because it's more 'tropical' and away from the traffic of the city. It's more like 'paradise' out there.. but if you want to go clubbin' and dance w/ some hot locals, then in that case I suggest oahu wink.gif

I get pretty tan...I went to a lot of the beaches -- I like the snorkeling beaches the best -- although I like the variety that exist even on Oahu. Then there are the beautiful women, too, that I would have a difficult time not noticing. laughing-smiley-014.gif

When I finally make my way out there, I'll be sure to look you up. wink.gif

I'd like to do more of the non-touristy kind of stuff and actually experience it for all it's worth. When my wife went to China for a month on a study abroad program, her instructor took her group to all these awesome places that really dug into the many cultures of China. It wasn't a typical experience and it was something that no travel agency would be able to come close to duplicating. She ate lunch with farmers, she hiked up mountain thingies and waterfalls. Her pictures are amazing and her journal is exciting to read. her instructor actually lived in China for some time and met his wife there.

Anyway, that's the kind of experience I'd like ot have when I finally make it out to Hawaii.

yeah, I stayed in Honolulu and it was pretty touristy and Americanized, but the trip was almost free so who was I to complain. Plus Waikiki Beach was amazing for scenery 08.gif
But we went out to Hanama(sp?) Bay and some other places for snorkelling that were pretty spectacular.

Similar experience when i was in Mexico. I got to see the production of Tequila from plant to spirit. We met authentic El Jimador's (Mexican Agave Farmers and cultivators) and got to see a side of Mexico many tourists do not get to see. Plus we got really loaded alc.gif

Yeah, we did that when we were in Mexico. We took 4-wheelers to Ixtapa and got to stop a few places along the way and got to see some real town, some real farming communities, and then fianlly the tequila distillery, same as you, from plant to the bottle. Lots and lots of bees, though. The little lady was a little freaked out by that, but I was too busy dipping my sweet, sweet agave in my even sweeter tequila to even notice. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I am pretty sure that is loosely based on 2 American tourists left behind whilst scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Unless I am wrong (which I never am tongue.gif )

Here in Sydney and surrounding areas we have had a few big storms over the past fortnight. It has been good to get so much raint to fill our dams up even a little but the devestation has been amazing. The surf has been unrideable. Here are 2 shots, the first a pic of Clovelly beach lookout whish is 2kn around the coast from Bondi. To give you perspective these rocks are 10 to 15m from sea level and this is how high the waves were hitting. The second is a pic of a bulk carrier ship that ran aground in the first of the storms on a Newcastle beach, 2 hours north of sydney.

I had no idea were it was filmed I do however know 2 people that got left out in the water off the coast of cancun for 6 hours before the Mexican boat guides came back to get them .. by that time they had puked and were very ill from the continued wave action and the salt water slapping them in the face ... But now I guess I have to add Australia to the list of No scuba with local's ?

beautiful. That's cool that with so many people crammed onto such a tiny island, that you can still have wide open spaces like that to enjoy.

I think he's a corn farmer.
I dunno where the US bread basket is, but I live in the Canadian one. The Farm Progress Show is on right now and I fear for my life driving amongst those used to driving on backroads with no one else around. Thousands of farmers everywhere.

I wish, I just searched some on a local news site. I don't have water views from my house so to take photos of the storm I would of had to get out in the rain.... fuck that! tongue.gif

It was a while back and the "American" tourists ventured off to places they were not supposed to go. It was one of those 1 in a million cases. If you saw how many people dive off our east coast every year you'd be surprised more didnt get left behind or lost. I have been a few times!

... here's my place up in the north of Scotland .... nice and quiet ... this is the beach at the back of my house where I walk the dogs ... usually see just one or two other folk each time I go out ....

After the storm finishes the big surf lasts for a few days and heaps of people head out in that sort of weather. I waited until the second day so the waves were only 2-3m instead of 5-6m!

When you live within 1 hour of a beach your entire life you get used to shit like that!

We don't get cold winters... but we did have close to three blizzards in 2 months.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winter_Storms_2006-07

That kinda made me laugh... just ctrl f colorado.

I just know that after all the snow we got, I've never been so sick of it in my life. It made for some good snowboarding though smile.gif.

Now that it's 100 out every other day.. I'm kinda missing that snow.
