QUOTE(closeup @ Jan 22 2007, 03:24 PM) Either that's a deliberate understatement, or you're just yanking my crank. They were ahead by 18 points, driving to add another touchdown, then the whole thing came crashing down. I'm all about the deliberate understatements, except when talking about my sexual prowess

I follow Liverpool in the EPL and I don't really have a team in the UK Super League, I just follow the progress of the Aussies playing over there... as I do in the Premier League

It had a bit of a cult following here when I was in high school in the 90's, I used to watch the Superbowl but that's it. What I find with America's major sports is that they go too long. A 48 minute game of football lasts half a day or more, so many stoppages and commercials, time outs, coach challenge's etc... I lose interest

Why do they wear all that body armour in your "football"? Rugby League (and Rugby Union) would kill them. The best part of your football is watching the Cheer leaders! :P

The best part of your football is watching the Cheer leaders! :P It's all about safety. Those players are getting paid millions of dollars, nobody wants to see them get hurt. Plus, the average linebacker is probably 275 pounds and can run 40 yards in 11 seconds. These guys are huge, strong and when they hit somebody they hit really hard. Without protection, a football players career would be less that one whole game.

I beg to differ , I much rather watch them in there full coverage pads and uniforms then in there skimpy man shorts bumping and grinding other men , that's just not my cup of scrumpy . but to each there own .

Do you really think some guy is going to tackle a 250lb running back, running full speed, without a helmet? Just think how hard that running backs knees would be if they slammed into the other guys' head. The would-be tackler would never put himself into that position. You'd probably enjoy motorcross more if the riders wore only speedos instead of full protection gear.

You call Motor cross a contact sport? thats where protection IS needed.

Aussie rules is where its at.....dont get me wrong i love the NFL for its purpose of entertainment...but those are some crazy bastards in Rugby. Go Man U....how about that 9yo....signing with the big club...did tevez get signed yet?

As a spectacle the NFL is great but I just grew up watching big men clash week in week out without padding. Sure some guys in Rugby League use pads but they are either rubber or a similar substance, not plastic and fibre glass. The 9yr old you refer to is Rhain Davis. An Aussie despite those wicked brits claiming him as his own. Also, Man Utd HAS signed Carlos Tevez but he'll miss first few games through injury. I'll post the Rhain Davis clip and the League Hits clip again below  Best Tackler in LEAGUEMan Utd 9yr old - Rhain Davis*sorry for the poor quality of the videos*
