Take it from someone who was raised on an island in the south seas, lived in California during teenage and young adult years, and made many jaunts to Colorado for sking. Island life is the BEST! HI is absolutely stunning in it's beauty, and all the stories about the locals are WAY over-blown. Once you live there, you become part of the "family". There is absolutely NO contest. Anywhere on Co. is a cold wasteland (eventhough I know there is obvious beauty in the mountain landscapes) compared to the sunshine and tropical beauty of the islands. GO to Hi! Don't fret. You'll love it and wonder how you ever could have even considered anywhere else once you're there.
