Hi. I know I'm new around here, but I guess this is as good a place to make a first post as any. well, I've been trolling for a short while and "feeling" out the site.  it's really easy to become attached to someone online because it's a place where all the usual hangups get left at the door, so to speak. for example, when you meet someone offline, your ego gets in the way and you may feel uncomfortable saying what you want to say. in other words, the anonymity of the internet makes it easier to put on airs or leave behind inhibitions that normally preclude a quick emotional attachment to someone "in the real world." I also feel that sometimes, people who are craving emotional attachment are more ready to accept people for who they say they are (again, the anonymity of the internet makes this easier to facilitate). as naraz (and many others -- not just on this site) has found, not everyone is who they say they are. and to answer your question, yes. I've gotten attached to someone I've met online. I'm a pisces. it's in the blood to become attached  |
