If i log out and then come back I find I'm already logged in. But then I find I'm logged out again. But if I don't log out once I leave then when I return I'm logged out???? Am I in or out??

Just log in always. If you don't log out, then you might get logged out automatically because the cookies has expired.

It also depends where you log in, message board or rating page. This 2 systems are not always synchronized and remembers your last login and could interfere .
