QUOTE(ddd35 @ Jan 16 2007, 03:12 PM) well if your finally getting what the rest of the world has had for yrs I just assumed .. when I bought my house I had to be a little conservative until I knew what to expect with my finances. Seeing as pretty much all phone calls to and from me, aside of work, would be on my cell phone, I didn't really see a need to spend money on a home phone. Same thing with Internet. I didn't need it at home, and I could hook up my cell phone to my laptop for broadband speeds when necessary. Now that I have a little more money saved after putting a lot of money down on my house, and after paying for a big wedding with very very very little help from our parents, and after buying a much needed safer and more reliable car for my wife, I am able to reevaluate my budget and get things like, you know, Internet at home, home telephone, food.

I wasnt meaning the phone I was refering to the interantional calls that you reffered to in Nats 411 , I fully understand not wanting a phone , we have a home phone only cause its a neceesity when ya have kids , they cant call cell phones from school cause its long distance , if they do we have to pay a small fee at the end of the semester .. I use wireless interent here at my office , i used to have a phone but my employees kept using it for personal business so i disconnected it and made them use there cell phones , cause most of there calls are cell to cell so there free .. I would think there would be somebody up there that would have wireless interent access that way you didnt have to have the home phone ..

I would think there would be somebody up there that would have wireless interent access that way you didnt have to have the home phone .. well the last neighbor I was scamming Internet from finally enabled the security features. Actually, he always had them enabled, but I was able to hack them because he never changed his SSID or pw, so I knew how to hack into his router. but the connection usually sucked cuz i didn't get a good signal. It was usually just easier to hook up the cell phone to the lap top. But now I have Interent at home and set up my own wireless router, so I'm cranking. If I really do decide to get a home phone, it will be VoIP, so it will be cheaper. I couldn't care less about having a home phone, I just thought it'd be a good idea to have one. I did find out, however, that I thought I'd be able to get free international calling, but I was wrong. It's free for anything related to the US and Canada. so I won't be able to call Bondi for free to hear his accent. I can call Nat in Canada though and practice my stalker-like heavy breathing techniques.

Im sure that call will be appreciated ...

I have some friends who don't have home phone, just cell. I was considering going that route, but our telephone company is like the Microsoft of provincial telecommunications. We get our TV(the non pirated stuff anyway), security, home phone, cell, broadband internet from them and the more you take the bigger your discount. I looked into Voip but it's not really any cheaper in the long run for me.

I looked into Voip but it's not really any cheaper in the long run for me. $25/month plus taxes and stuff put it just under $30/month with all features included and unlimited local and long-distance calling. SOme of the features are awesome like being able to use your account from any phone. if I'm visiting at a friend's out of state and want to make a phone call, I can call a number and make my friends phone emulate my phone, meaning my friend wouldn't be charged any tolls. My number would also come up on caller ID, which makes sneaking around town very easy.

Both my faincee and I have cell phones where we purchase for example $49 recharge which buys you $239 dollars worth of calls, sms messages etc If I ever need the use of a house phone I have a Voice Over IP phone which I use over the internet
